PM Modi meets with David Hurley, the governor general of Australia, to discuss bilateral ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Governor General of Australia David Hurley on Wednesday, and the two leaders spoke about improving the long-standing bilateral relationship as well as people-to-people ties between the two nations.

After lengthy discussions with Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Modi met Hurley.

He and Albanese spoke about concentrating on enhancing overall bilateral relations, especially in the fields of commerce and investment, defence, and renewable energy during their meetings.

“A cordial discussion took place in Sydney between PM @narendramodi and Australia's governor general, @HurleyGeneral. The long-standing bilateral cooperation between India and Australia was discussed, as well as ways to improve it, the Ministry of External Affairs tweeted.

In addition, Modi expressed his joy at meeting Hurley.

“It was a pleasure to speak with Governor General David Hurley on India-Australian ties. A healthier Earth will result from stronger relations between our countries, Modi tweeted.

Modi and his Australian counterpart spoke at a diaspora event on Tuesday that was heavily attended at the Qudos Bank Arena.

Both Modi and Albanese praised the Indian diaspora groups in Australia for their efforts to strengthening bilateral relations.

The leaders laid a plaque for the foundation stone of a “Little India” entrance for Harris Park in honour of the significant contributions made by the Indian diaspora to Australia's vibrant multicultural society.

The leaders also praised the Western Australian Government and the City of Perth for their decision to rename a road along the Swan River in Perth in honour of Private Nain Singh Sailani.
