Regarding Bollywood Casting: “We See Doctors Like Katrina Kaif in Movies”

New Delhi: Actor Pankaj Tripathi has gone a long way, demonstrating his talent in every performance from Gangs of Wasseypur to Mimi. The actor recently discussed the issue of racial stereotyping in Bollywood, using Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, as an example. “If Mukesh Ambani was not a businessman and he went for an audition, he would never be cast as a rich man since he doesn’t look like that,” Tripathi said.

The notion that an engineer looks like this and a doctor like this was developed by the film industry. It is made very clear at an audition—even if a junior artist is needed—that they must have an exquisite and wealthy appearance. “We see doctors like Katrina Kaif in movies, but how often do we see them at AIIMS?” Tripathi said in an ANI interview. The actor said that while stereotypes were common in movies in the past, things are changing today.

The hero laughs gently, while the villain laughs out loud. “Hero dheere se muskurate hai par villain zor se haste hai aesa humne movies mein dekha hai par hakikat mein khul ke hasne vaala dil ka acha hota hai.” The actor said, “We’ve seen this in movies, but the truth is, someone who laughs freely is compassionate.”

After starring in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, Tripathi became well-known. Since then, he has portrayed a number of important characters, including those of Fukrey, Masaan, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Fukrey Returns, and Stree.

The actor is portraying former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in his upcoming film Main Atal Hoon.

Speaking about his preparation for the part, Tripathi said, “I took seven or eight days to ponder. I was afraid. How would I do it? I don’t know what will happen. I also followed the advice of my friends, who believed that I was the right person. Vinod Bhanushali, the producer, then said, “I will not make this film if you don’t do it.” But I was worried about how much justice I could do to the esteemed Atal ji’s character. The difficulty was that I had no idea how much I was imitating since I had no idea what imitation and mimicry were. Because of his enormous popularity, it is impossible to capture his tale in a two-hour film.”

The previous prime minister was a prolific poet who had a strong passion for reading.

Speaking about how he envisioned himself as Vajpayee, Tripathi said, “I have read Atal ji’s poetry in the movie, but it’s not precisely as he did. There are occasional pauses, but mostly the spirit has been preserved with a little tweak. Atal ji’s voice is also heard reciting the poem in several scenes in the movie.”

“This is the tale of a young boy from Bateshwar who grows up to be a poet and politician named Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who ultimately becomes the Prime Minister,” he said. I’ve learned from my study for this film that a guy ought to lead from inside. Nobody can be a fan of everyone’s philosophy, yet everyone believes my worldview to be correct. Even in conflicts, there should be consensus; I’ll take criticism from others.”

He previously discussed his passion in politics and his preparations for the Atal Bihari Vajpayee biography at the trailer’s premiere.

He also related a humorous story about how, while in college, he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

“A youth wing housed me. I’ve taken part in mandolin performances. I even spent a week in prison! Mainly, we have to use nikal chuka tha. Then I realized that there are many thorns on the political route. I decided to change course and began becoming interested in street theater as a result. I enrolled myself in Kaildas Rangalaya in Patna. Ishtar ki mujhe laga hai? Pankaj joked, “Yahaan kam se kam bol ke acting hoti hai ki’main acting kar raha hoon’.”

The movie is scheduled to open in theaters on January 19. Vinod Bhanushali, Sandeep Singh, Sam Khan, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Bhanushali Studios Limited, and Legend Studios all support it.
