After the second Twenty20 International in Thiruvananthapuram, Kishan spoke to JioCinema about his strategy shift and his plans to strengthen his power striking.

“I missed the most of the World Cup matches. The wicketkeeper-batter said, “I practiced a lot since I was sitting out after two matches.

Despite being on the bench for the most of the World Cup, Kishan was a member of the team. He participated in the first two matches against Afghanistan and Australia, losing both to dismissals for 47 runs and a duck. Kishan was forced to play from the bench for the remainder of the tournament due to the comeback of Shubman Gill, who had been suffering from dengue.

“I was talking to the coaches, with the captain, and I knew that when T20 comes, my time will come and I have to be in a good mindset,” the 25-year-old further said.

With two fifties and 110 runs in the series so far, the left-hander is now India’s top run scorer in the five-match competition. In order to guarantee a position in the future T20 World Cup in 2024, which the USA and the West Indies will jointly host, he will be looking to continue this run of success.

“We need to take advantage of these opportunities as we only have nine games left before the World Cup,” Kishan said.

With a number of young players hoping to make the World Cup roster, India will try to get beyond their miserable ODI World Cup final performance and focus on the T20 World Cup.
