Marcelo of Fluminense says the Libertadores Title is more significant than any Champions League trophy he had with Real Madrid

Before the Champions League medals he won with Real Madrid, veteran Brazilian defender Marcelo praised the Copa Libertadores trophy he earned on Saturday with his childhood club, Fluminense.

After defeating Argentina’s Boca Juniors 2-1 in extra time, the Brazilian squad won its first championship in the history of the CONMEBOL South American club tournament.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-268938″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-kriti-sanon-looks-gorgeous-in-an-orange-short-dress-and-fans-love-her-download-202.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com kriti sanon looks gorgeous in an orange short dress and fans love her download 202″ width=”1114″ height=”748″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-kriti-sanon-looks-gorgeous-in-an-orange-short-dress-and-fans-love-her-download-202.jpg 274w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/11/theindiaprint.com-kriti-sanon-looks-gorgeous-in-an-orange-short-dress-and-fans-love-her-download-202-150×101.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1114px) 100vw, 1114px” title=”Marcelo of Fluminense says the Libertadores Title is more significant than any Champions League trophy he had with Real Madrid 3″>

In his 16 seasons at Real Madrid, the 35-year-old defender not only won five Champions Leagues, but also six LaLiga championships, five Spanish Super Cups, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, and two Copa del Rey medals.

He has participated in 21 club-level finals and has, on the whole, been on the winning side in 18.

Marcelo, who began the championship game on Saturday and was replaced at halftime, rejoined his childhood team in February after his departure from the Spanish powerhouses, having previously played for Olympiakos in Greece.

Real Madrid is going to get it. Since the club elevated me, it’s my most significant championship at the club level, Marcelo said ESPN.

“With the staff who have seen me grow up, I’m taking home a very significant championship with my favorite team—the team that provided me with all the resources I needed to further my profession. Nothing is more fulfilling than that. It’s invaluable,” he said.

Marcelo has joined an exclusive group of 15 players, which includes Ronaldinho, Neymar, and Julian Alvarez, in winning both the Copa Libertadores and the Champions League.

“I owed Fluminense money.” “That we would win the championship was predetermined,” he said.
